CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR TWO CITIZENS OF REPUBLIC OF TURKEY DUE TO SMUGGLING OF MIGRANTS
28.01.2022. 14:52The suspects were brought before the Prosecutor in charge of this case, who questioned them and subsequently put forward a motion to order custody pursuant to Article 132, paragraph 1, item a) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely, due to the risk of the suspects’ flight.
Judging by the evidence collected and the statements of the found illegal migrants, they came from the territories of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The migrants were handed over to the jurisdiction of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
