EXHUMATION CARRIED OUT UNDER SUPERVISION OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH IN THE AREA OF STUP SETTLEMENT IN SARAJEVO
24.11.2021. 12:24An investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes is at the location where she coordinates the work of authorized persons involved in the process of exhumation of mortal remains.
The aforementioned mortal remains were found during construction works near the tram line, after which the works were suspended and the location secured. The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH requested the Court of BiH to issue an order for exhumation at the said location.
Once the remains are exhumed, they will be sent for further forensic processing, in order to determine the origin of the remains, and to establish their identity through DNA analysis.The exhumation was attended by a forensic pathologist, representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons (IIMP), the necessary labor and machinery, as well as police officers of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior who secured the location.
Employees of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH participate nearly every day in the processes of exhumations and search for missing persons in all parts of BiH.
