22.10.2021. 13:19(Sarajevo, 22 October 2021) - Presidency of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) composed of Halil Lagumdžija - President, Biljana Simeunović and Sanela Gorušanović Butigan -Vice Presidents and Sanin Bogunić, permanent member, as well member of the HJPC and BiH and Chairwoman of the Standing Commission for Quality and Efficiency of Prosecutors’ Offices Zeljka Radović and Director of the Secretariat of the HJPC BiH Admir Suljagic held a meeting today with the newly appointed Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Milanko Kajganić.
Full support was voiced for the work of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and its newly appointed Acting Chief Prosecutor at the meeting in the aim of raising the quality of work of this Prosecutor’s Office to the highest possible level. The meeting participants stated that the current social situation is complicated and that a great responsibility lies on the heads of judicial institutions in terms of normalizing the situation through cooperation and communication of all relevant institutions. The need for efficient prosecution of organized crime and corruption cases and war crimes cases in accordance with the Revised War Crimes Strategy was emphasized in the conversation. It was also stated that the Automatic Case Management System in this Prosecutor’s Office should be established in full capacity and that the competent services of the HJPC Secretariat of BiH are available for technical support. Full cooperation and coordination with police agencies in order to successfully prosecute crimes was highlighted as one of the priority activities. The meeting parties also discussed the activities of the Secretariat of the HJPC BiH regarding strategic work planning and budget projection of this Prosecutor’s Office in cooperation with the HJPC BiH and cooperation on projects and initiatives to determine the internal structure of the institution in the most optimal way in order to support for the work of prosecutors in the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH. A meeting between the president of the HJPC BiH and the leadership of the highest judicial institutions at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been announced for the beginning of next week. In the context of quality work and functioning of the judicial system, at the end of the meeting, the President of the HJPC BiH Halil Lagumdžija emphasized that the HJPC BiH is a place where all problems in the work of judicial institutions can be openly and sincerely discussed and where support from the HJPC BiH in addressing them can be sought.This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
