EXHUMATION UNDERWAY IN SREBRENICA AREA, SUPERVISED BY BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE
13.07.2021. 14:27An investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes is at the Kazani site near Srebrenica, where he coordinates the work of authorized officers who participate in the process of exhumation and search for the remains of victims from the past war.
The site is attended by a forensic doctor, representatives of the Missing Persons’ Institute (MPI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina and necessary workers and mechanization, as well as police officers from the Srebrenica Police Station who are carrying out crime investigation activities and securing the said location.
According to the preliminary information, the remains of a Bosniak victim, who died in 1993, should be found at the site.
Representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina participate in the exhumation processes and in the search for missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
