EXTENSION OF CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR SUSPECT JOSIP BARIĆ
21.06.2021. 09:07The case’s prosecutor sent a motion to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to extend custody for another 30 days for the suspect Josip Barić (1963), who is under investigation in the case of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH relating to the death of Dženan Memić in February 2016.
The custody measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132 (b) and (d) of the Criminal Procedure Code BiH, that is, because of the risk that the suspect might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accomplices, as well as because the release of the suspect would cause disturbance among the public and citizens.
The motion was forwarded to the Court of BiH where a hearing on the motion will be held during the day.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
