CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR EDIN ŠAHBAZ (1970), SUSPECTED OF ILLICIT TRAFFICKING IN NARCOTIC DRUGS
21.05.2021. 13:10The measure of custody has been proposed for the reasons stipulated in Article 132, paragraph 1, item b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that is, due to the existence of a justified fear that, if at large, the suspect might destroy, conceal, alter or falsify evidence or clues important to the criminal proceedings by influencing witnesses or accomplices.
The suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and he is suspected of committing the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, referred to in Article 195 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which carries a sentence of imprisonment for a minimum term of three (3) years.
The aforementioned suspect was deprived of liberty within yesterday’s joint operation of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which 37 kilograms of ‘marijuana’ narcotic drug was seized together with 203.90 grams of a narcotic drug which by its appearance resembles the ‘hashish’ narcotic drug. The value of this drug on the illegal drug market in Bosnia and Herzegovina is around 225,000 BAM.
The narcotic drug was discovered and seized during the control of a cargo motor vehicle at the entrance to Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the Deleuša border crossing near Trebinje.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina continues its intensive work on the case.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
