EXTENSION OF CUSTODY MEASURE PROPOSED FOR SUSPECT JOSIP BARIĆ (1963)
18.05.2021. 15:35The Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who is acting in the case related to the death of Dženan Memić, has put forward a Motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking the extension of the measure of custody to be ordered to the suspect Josip Barić (1963).
The suspect Barić is under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and he is suspected of obstructing the investigation into the death of Dženan Memić, which occurred in Ilidža, in February 2016.
The suspect was then acting in the capacity of a police officer, when he was determining the circumstances of the victim’s death.
The proposal to extend custody measure has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
