14.04.2021. 15:06
Having questioned the suspects, the Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in charge of this case will put forward a Motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking the measure of custody to be ordered against the suspected organizer of the group, Amir Safi (1996), an Afghan citizen.
  • CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR AFGHAN CITIZEN DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY IN OPERATION CODENAMED ‘FAST’

The measure of custody will be proposed for the reasons stipulated in Article 132, items a) and b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that is, due to the risk of the suspect’s flight, who would become unavailable to our country’s judiciary should he leave Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as due to the danger that, if at large, he might hinder the investigation, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accessories.

The suspect is subject to investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and he is suspected of the commission of the criminal offense of Organizing a Group or Association for the Purpose of Perpetrating the Criminal Offense of ‘Smuggling of Migrants’, referred to in Article 189a of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons, referred to in Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The aforementioned suspect was deprived of liberty within yesterday’s operation codenamed ‘Fast’, which was aimed at detecting and prosecuting the organizers of illegal smuggling of dozens of migrants from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of Croatia and further to other EU countries.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina continues its intensive work on the case.
