  • MEETING OF TASK FORCE AND NETWORK OF PROSECUTORS AND INVESTIGATORS SPECIALISED FOR FIGHT AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN HUMAN BEINGS

The meeting of the Task Force for Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings and Organised Illegal Migration, as well as the Network of Prosecutors and Investigators Specialised for Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings, was held via video conference and was attended by officials from judicial, police, security and law enforcement agencies from the level of the State of Bosnia and Herzegovina, both entities and the Brčko District of BiH, as well as representatives of international institutions involved in the fight against trafficking in human beings.

The central topics of the meeting related to the regular reporting and to the consideration of joint activities in the field of combating trafficking in human beings and illegal migration, as well as to the joint work and action plan of institutions in the fight against this type of criminal offences.

The meeting concluded that progress had been made in prosecuting the criminal offences in human beings, as reported by members of the Task Force and the State Coordinator for Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings and a member of the Task Force, Samir Rizvo, who informed the participants at the meeting that coordination teams for fight against trafficking in human beings had been formed at all levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Although some progress has been made so far in achieving results in the fight against trafficking in human beings, it is necessary to further intensify work in this field in order to protect victims as a particularly vulnerable population. It is also necessary to continue with trainings, especially in the area of identifying elements of trafficking in human beings within the criminal offences of smuggling of persons.

The active and continuous work of the Task Force and the Network at the time when it is hampered due to the Covid 19 pandemic is extremely important as a contribution to the fight against trafficking in human beings and illegal migration as an important segment in achieving the rule of law in which the international community provides assistance and support.
