CHIEF PROSECUTOR HELD COLLEGIUMS OF ALL PROSECUTORS OF PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
09.03.2021. 16:25At the collegiums, the Chief Prosecutor informed her colleagues that she had presented Information on the Work of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH for 2019 and 2020 in the HJPC BiH. The presented information shows that the quota achieved in 2020 was 109.41%, that 180 indictments were filed against 284 people last year, and that the quality of indictments was around 95%.
Also, the plan of work and activities for 2021 were presented at the collegiums, the results from last year were analysed, and there was a discussion about operational activities and overcoming all difficulties that may occur in practice and daily work, especially due to limited working conditions and possibilities of travelling and holding meetings, which are caused by the pandemic and which significantly impede the work of prosecutors and field staff in particular.
Furthermore, the defined priorities of work in 2021 include cases of organised crime, corruption, economic crime, the continuation of the ongoing fight against terrorism, human trafficking and smuggling of persons, as well as of war crimes cases, especially the remaining ones with the standard marking “A”.
At the request of the HJPC BiH, the Collegium of Prosecutors elected Prosecutor Enisa Adrović as a nominee from the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH for the appointment as a member of the First Instance Disciplinary Commission in the HJPC BiH.
Considering that the works on the construction and reconstruction of the new building and premises for the accommodation of prosecutors and employees have been completed and that the technical acceptance of the facility is underway, the Chief Prosecutor organised a tour of the new premises in which, after 19 of the existence and operation of this institution, its prosecutors and employees will have adequate working conditions in accordance with professional and safety standards.
Since its establishment to date, indictments were filed against more than 6,000 persons for criminal offences falling within the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, of which more than 900 persons were charged with war crimes and violations of international humanitarian law.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
