PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH READY TO TAKE OVER AND PROSECUTE DARKO ELEZ (1980)
23.02.2021. 15:47Following a decision of the High Court in Belgrade, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH will take all necessary activities to take over and prosecute this suspect for criminal offences of organised crime.
This decision is, among other things, the result of the efforts and cooperation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior, in coordination with partner judicial institutions and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia.
In the coming days, coordination and communication activities will be carried out with partner police and security agencies, in order to transport the said suspect and accused in the cases of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH as soon as possible.
Darko Elez was indicted in the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH within the case code-named “Puppet”, in which final prison sentences of more than 130 years have been imposed so far.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH is also working on an extensive case of organized crime, which concerns the suspect Elez and other persons under investigation for serious crimes of murder and mafia liquidation, extortion and other crimes in East Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
