ACCUSED OF ILLEGAL TRAFFICKING IN NARCOTIC DRUGS ENTERS GUILTY PLEA AGREEMENT
10.02.2021. 15:10The accused, Ante Sičaja (1960) from Gornji Vakuf/Uskoplje, in the presence of his defence counsel, fully pleaded guilty to the criminal offence of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs under Article 195 of the Criminal Code of BiH, as charged by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A sentence of 5 years in prison was proposed for the accused, as well as a fine in the amount of BAM 200,000.
The seized narcotic drugs in the amount of about 312 kilograms will be destroyed within the legal procedure and the illegal property gain found on the accused in the amount of about BAM 4,500, in HRK and EUR currencies, was also confiscated.
The proposed sentence is in accordance with the role and responsibility of the accused in the commission of the criminal offence.
The accused was deprived of his freedom in early 2020, within a coordinated operation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA, when narcotic drugs were found and seized in the facilities and premises of the company owned by the accused.
The agreement was forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
