PERSONS SUSPECTED OF ORGANIZED CRIME AND OBSTRUCTION OF INVESTIGATION INTO THE DEATH OF DŽENAN MEMIĆ QUESTIONED IN THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
02.02.2021. 13:32This morning, the suspects were brought to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they were questioned by the Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in charge of the case.
Having questioned the suspects, the Prosecutor will put forward a motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking the measure of custody to be ordered.
The measure of custody will be requested for reasons prescribed by Article 132, items b) and d) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that is, due to the fear that, if at large, the suspects might hinder the inquiry, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accessories, as well as due to the exceptional circumstances related to the criminal offence, as a result of which the suspects’ stay at large would cause anxiety among citizens and public.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina resumes its intensive investigation in this case, in the direction of filing an indictment against the aforementioned suspects.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
