CUSTODY MEASURE PROPOSED AGAINST THREE PERSONS DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY IN POLICE OPERATION CODENAMED ‘GOLF’

25.12.2020. 08:52
Having questioned the suspects, the Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in charge of the case put forward a proposal with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking the measure of custody to be ordered in regard to three (3) suspects.
  • CUSTODY MEASURE PROPOSED AGAINST THREE PERSONS DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY IN POLICE OPERATION CODENAMED ‘GOLF’

Custody measure has been proposed in relation to these suspects for reasons as stipulated in Article 132, paragraph 1, items a), b) and c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely, due to the risk of the suspects’ flight and the danger that, if at large, the suspects might destroy, conceal, alter or falsify evidence or clues important to the criminal proceedings, as well as due to the danger that, if at large, they might repeat the criminal offence.

These suspects are under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and they are suspected to have committed the criminal offence of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, referred to in Article 195, paragraph 2 in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The aforementioned persons have been deprived of liberty in the operation codenamed ‘Golf’, which was carried out in the areas of Trebinje and Čapljina, pursuant to an Order of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the course of this operation, facilities were searched at several locations and about 30 kilograms of skunk narcotic drug were seized, and instrumentalities used for the commission of the criminal offence were found and temporarily confiscated.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina resumes its intensive work on the case.

*Note on the principle of presumption of innocence

This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
