ON REQUEST OF PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA, SUSPECT DARKO ELEZ (1980) LOCATED AND DEPRIVED OF FREEDOM IN BELGRADE
22.12.2020. 14:50A prosecutor of the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH sent a request to the judicial institutions of the Republic of Serbia for the extradition of Darko Elez to the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The suspect is wanted for trial on the basis of a confirmed indictment, charging him with organised crime in connection with several serious crimes, including murder, attempted murder, money laundering and other crimes committed between 2005 and 2009.
Also, the suspect is wanted for an investigation conducted for a longer period of time by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska, together with partner institutions in BiH and the region, and refers to serious crimes committed in East Sarajevo and BiH in 2018 and 2019, including two murders committed in a way mafia liquidations are committed, planning and attempting murders in the area of East Sarajevo and Bijelina, as well as extortion, intimidation and other criminal offences to the detriment of injured persons from the area of East Sarajevo and BiH.
The Prosecutor’s Office and partner institutions have learned that the organiser and coordinator of the committed crimes, together with other persons, is the suspect Darko Elez.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH would like to thank the partner institutions of the Republic of Serbia for their assistance and cooperation in this matter.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
