SEVEN SUSPECTS OF WAR CRIME COMMITTED IN ZVORNIK AREA DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY ON ORDER OF BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

The suspects deprived of liberty are charged with war crime, committed during the attacks on the villages in the Zvornik municipality, in the period from 8 October 1992 to 6 July 1994, as well as with crime against prisoners of war, when twenty (20) victims of Serb ethnicity were killed.
  • SEVEN SUSPECTS OF WAR CRIME COMMITTED IN ZVORNIK AREA DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY ON ORDER OF BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

Acting on an order of a Prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes and in cooperation with the Tuzla Canton Ministry of the Interior and the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior, respectively, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency – SIPA have located, identified and deprived of liberty the following suspects: 

- Šemsudin Muminović (1962), Džemo Galjić (1963), Ćamil Ahmetović (1965), Rasim Omerović (1968), Asim Alić (1959), Fadil Mujić (1948) and Ismet Memić (1970).

The suspects are under investigation by the Special Department for War Crimes and they are suspected of having participated, as members of the Territorial Defence and the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a widespread and systematic attack on the Serb civilian population in the area of Zvornik and its surroundings, and in killings, intentional infliction of severe physical or mental pain (torture) and causing injury to the bodily integrity or health of the civilian population.

The crimes committed during the attacks on the villages, as well as crimes against prisoners of war, resulted in the killings of about twenty (20) persons of Serb ethnicity.

The aforementioned suspects are charged with the criminal offences of War Crime against Civilian Population, referred to in Article 142, and War Crime against Prisoners of War, referred to in Article 144 of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

Having questioned the suspects, the Prosecutor in charge of this case will make a decision on further activities in the case.
