MORTAL REMAINS OF FIVE PERSONS FOUND IN EXHUMATION IN SANSKI MOST
03.12.2020. 12:26In the course of an exhumation carried out at the Greda site in Sanski Most, mortal remains of five persons have been found. The exhumation has been coordinated by an Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who has acted upon orders of the Prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes in charge of this case.
According to preliminary information, these are victims of Serb ethnicity who had gone missing in the fall of 1995.
Upon the completion of the works at this location, the mortal remains will be sent for further forensic processing and identification through the DNA analysis, and the exhumation will be continued at the nearby site of Šušnjari, which is a few hundred meters away from this location.
The exhumation process is being conducted with the participation of the representatives of the Missing Persons’ Institute (BiH MPI) and a forensic doctor. The location is being secured by the police officers of the Ministry of the Interior of the Una-Sana Canton, and the necessary workers and machinery are also present on the site.
Almost on a daily basis, Investigators and Legal Officers of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina participate in exhumations and searches for missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
