TWO BIH BORDER POLICE OFFICERS DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY DUE TO CRIMINAL OFFENCE OF CORRUPTION
16.11.2020. 08:38On an order of the duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, two Border Police officers were deprived of liberty at the Border Crossing Point Karakaj.
These police officers are under investigation and are suspected of soliciting and receiving a gift from foreign citizens from the territory of Montenegro, upon their entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to let them into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, without insisting on certain documents and procedures in connection with the Covid pandemic 19.
Evidence and statements documenting the commission of the criminal offence were collected from witnesses and the prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH ordered the deprivation of liberty of the suspects, as well as further actions and activities to document this criminal offence.
The suspected members of the Border Police will be interviewed, after which a decision will be made on further activities in the case.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
