EXHUMATION COMMENCES IN ZAVIDOVIĆI MUNICIPALITY
06.11.2020. 07:26On the basis of initial information, there are assumptions that these are victims of Serbian ethnicity from the Vozuća area who have been searched for, for a long time. The victims’ exact identity will be determined by the DNA analysis.
An Investigator from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is present in the field, coordinating the process of exhumation and search for mortal remains together with the Prosecutor in charge of the case.
The search for, and the exhumation of, the mortal remains have been conducted with the participation of the representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons (INO) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Institute of Forensic Medicine of Republika Srpska, a forensic expert and necessary workers with the use of adequate mechanization, whereas police officers from SIPA and the Police Station of Zavidovići are securing the location and conducting forensic processing of evidence and the scene.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with partner institutions, participates in the processes of exhumations and search for missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The exhumation process will continue in the coming days.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
