INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMINAL OFFENCE OF ILLICIT TRADE IN EXCISE PRODUCTS
16.10.2020. 08:54This accused person is charged with illegally acquiring a larger amount of excise goods, namely tobacco that was not marked with control and tax stamps in the manner prescribed by tax legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The intention of the accused was to put the tobacco in circulation on the illegal market.
According to the allegations in the Indictment, the aforementioned accused person was transporting around 980 kilograms of cut tobacco in a cargo motor vehicle. The tobacco was wrapped in plastic bags of twenty kilograms each and the accused did not have the necessary documentation for it. The accused intended to put the tobacco in circulation in Mostar, but he was caught while driving the said vehicle in the area of Balinovac settlement, during the control of authorized officials, and he was thus prevented from doing so.
The accused is charged with the criminal offence of Illicit Trade in Excise Products, referred to in Article 210a of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with article 26 of the same Code.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
