MEETING OF OFFICIALS OF SPECIAL WAR CRIMES DEPARTMENT OF PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH AND STANDING JUDICIAL COUNCIL FOR WAR CRIMES OF COURT OF BIH HELD

The central topics of the meeting were the prosecution of war crimes cases in the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the Court of BiH, as well as the transfer of less complex cases to the judicial institutions of the Entities and the Brčko District of BiH.
This meeting is part of the regular activities envisaged by the National War Crimes Strategy, so that representatives of the two State-level institutions would have an opportunity to analyse the recommendations from the Judge Korner’s Report and discuss about the harmonisation of their positions regarding the transferring of cases to the levels of the respective Entities and the Brčko District of BiH.
The common positions will be presented to the Supervisory Body for Monitoring the Implementation of the National Strategy for Work on War Crimes Cases.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
