ACCUSED OF ILLICIT INTERNATIONAL TRAFFICKING IN NARCOTIC DRUGS ENTERS GUILTY PLEA AGREEMENT
19.08.2020. 15:47The accused Veselin Dumančić, born in 1962 in Plužine, Nikšić Municipality, Republic of Montenegro, a citizen of the Republic of Montenegro, charged with the criminal offence of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs under Article 195 of the Criminal Code BiH, in the presence of his lawyer, fully admitted guilt for the criminal offence he is charged for and signed a guilty plea agreement.
The accused admitted that he was involved in the illicit trafficking of the narcotic drug Marijuana “Skunk”, and was deprived of liberty in the area of Trebinje when his freight motor vehicle was stopped and when the narcotic drug smuggled from Montenegro to BiH was discovered in its specially made compartments.
Pursuant to the agreement, it was proposed that the Accused be sentenced to 5 years in prison, as well that the items used in the commission of the criminal offence, including the MAN truck and the illegal proceeds of crime in the amount of EUR 3000, be confiscated.
The seized narcotics will be destroyed within a legal procedure.
The proposed sentence is adequate to the role and responsibility of the accused in the commission of the criminal offence.
By the guilty plea agreement, the accused waived his right to a trial and his right to appeal the judgment handed down to him by the Court of BiH based on the agreement.
After considering the agreement, it was accepted and the accused was sentenced.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
