INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR SMUGGLING OF MIGRANTS
17.08.2020. 12:07- MIROSLAV JOVANČIĆEVIĆ, born in 1963 in Užice, Republic of Serbia, citizen of the Republic of Serbia.
The accused is charged with enabling the illegal transportation and stay of illegal migrants by transporting them through the territory of BiH.
According to the allegations from the indictment, on 28 May 2019 the accused accepted the offer to transport smuggled persons, citizens of Cameroon, to Sarajevo for an agreed amount of money, after they had previously illegally entered BiH from the Republic of Serbia.
The accused was discovered in the commission of the criminal offence through control of police officers of the BiH Border Police in Zekovići, Višegrad municipality, who, during the control of the said vehicle, found smuggled persons without valid travel documents for stay in BiH.
The accused is charged with the criminal offence of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189 (2) of the Criminal Code of BiH, in conjunction with Article 26 thereof.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
