PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA, BORDER POLICE AND PARTNER POLICE AGENCIES CONDUCT INTENSIVE SEARCH FOR TWO PERSONS SUSPECTED OF SMUGGLING OF MIGRANTS

The search is conducted in relation to the smuggling of thirteen (13) migrants, citizens of Bangladesh, who had been discovered at a location in Kostajnica, after which the two suspects fled.

After receiving information that some vehicles had been controlled in the area of ​​Kostajnica and that thirteen (13) persons had been found without documents, who stated that they had come from ​​Bangladesh, the Duty Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued instructions to the police officers of the Border Police, regarding further activities aimed at detecting and documenting the said criminal offence.

Based on an order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the stopped vehicles were searched, and mobile phones and other evidence were seized from the suspects.

Since the two suspects, who had been stopped during an intensified control of the border area aimed at detecting, preventing and prosecuting the perpetrators of the criminal offences of smuggling of migrants, fled the crime scene, the police agencies are searching intensively for them, and it is expected that they will be located and arrested soon.

A total of thirteen (13) illegal migrants, including minors, were handed over to the officers of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where further procedure will be conducted.

The driver, who was arrested, was also deprived of money which is presumed to be unlawfully acquired material gain originating from the criminal offence of smuggling of persons.

The intensive work on this case continues.
