The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gordana Tadić, met with the Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ambassadress Kathleen Kavalec, as well as the Mission’s officials in charge of the Rule of  Law Segment, Michael Schuetz, Head of the Rule of Law Section and Legal Advisor Francesco De-Sanctis .

During the meeting, the Chief Prosecutor informed the representatives of the OSCE Mission to BiH about the current situation, work and results achieved in the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH during the Covid 19 pandemic, the results that were achieved  even though the office operated in reduced capacity pursuant to recommendations from relevant institutions. During the Covid 19 pandemic, the Prosecutor’s Office has , in accordance with the instructions of the HJPC BiH, worked intensively on cases that relate to endangering the health and life of citizens, public procurement, as well as detention cases and cases with urgent deadlines.

The Chief Prosecutor informed the representatives of the OSCE Mission to BiH, that these circumstances have made work on war crimes cases, as well as the exhumations, difficult  as those entail activities requiring travel and field work throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As of  18 May  all prosecutors and employees work full time at the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, respecting  measures prescribed to protect the health of employees.

Ambassador Kavalec emphasized that the OSCE Mission to BiH will continue to support the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH to overcome the challenges  it faces in its work, with the aim of strengthening the rule of law in the interest of all BiH citizens.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the OSCE Mission to BiH have expressed their commitment to continue cooperation in the future.
