INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR PARTICIPATION IN FOREIGN BATTLEFIELDS IN SYRIA
13.05.2020. 10:54A prosecutor of the Terrorism Section filed an indictment against:
- Emir Ališić, born in 1970 in Sanski Most, who is in custody.
The accused is charged that in late 2013, he, with an intention of joining the paramilitary formations that operated in the territory of Syria and Iraq within the structures of the so-called “ISIL”, travelled from BiH to Turkey from where he illegally moved to the territory of Syria where he, within several formations in the area of the cities of Rakka and Haritan, fought in the structures of the so-called “ISIL”, which was declared a terrorist organisation by a UN Security Council decision.
The indictment alleges that the accused was a member of the so-called “ISIL” in the period from 2013 to 2019, namely for about six years, that in early 2019, during the collapse and fall of this terrorist organisation, he was captured by Kurdish forces, that he was extradited to BiH in late 2019, where he was arrested immediately upon arrival and taken into custody, and that he is still in custody ordered by a decision of the Court of BiH.
The accused is charged with the criminal offence of Organising Terrorist Groups under Article 202d in conjunction with the criminal offence of Terrorism under Article 201 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
