EXTENSION OF CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR BORDER POLICE OFFICER SUSPECTED OF ACCEPTING GIFTS OR OTHER FORMS OF BENEFIT
08.04.2020. 14:49The prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption in charge of this case has put forward a motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina asking that the measure of custody be extended in regard of the following suspect:
- Rajo Kikić, born in 1963 in Brezik, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The suspect is under investigation due to the suspicion that he requested and received a gift so that he would let three passengers, who were coming from the Republic of Croatia and who had previously been to other foreign countries, enter Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Brčko Border Crossing, which is contrary to the valid legal provisions and in contravention of the foreseen health and sanitation procedures.
As those were younger persons with intensive social contacts and movements, such a behavior of the suspect has seriously endangered the health and lives of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The measure of custody was proposed in relation to the aforementioned suspect for reasons as set forth in Article 132, paragraph 1, item d) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, because the suspect’s actions caused anxiety and fear among the public and citizens, in view of the possible consequences of the committed criminal offense.
The Motion has been put forward with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
