At the end of a two-day meeting in Sarajevo the Chief Prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic Public Prosecutor’s Office of RS, Federal Prosecutor’s Office of Federation of BIH and Prosecutor’s Office of Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, have, in presence of representatives of the Project of Strengthening prosecutorial capacity implemented by the HJPC BiH, signed an agreement on the establishment of a coordination body.

The basic competence of the coordinating body is to consider issues of conflict of jurisdiction between the prosecutor’s offices in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in situations where the law does not prescribe how to resolve conflict of jurisdiction and when all other ways of resolving conflicts of jurisdiction have been used without finding a solution.

At the next regular meeting of the Coordination Body the members of this body shall exchange information and coordinate investigations that are in progress, with a view to improve the legality and effectiveness of work.

The prosecutorial community in Bosnia and Herzegovina counts about 370 prosecutors who work in the prosecutorial institutions at all levels in BiH and are expected to provide a significant contribution to the rule of law and the prosecution of all criminal offenses committed in the country, hence the coordinating bodies which would connect them and accelerate communication and cooperation are needed for more effective cooperation in strengthening the rule of law.
