INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR PARTICIPATION IN FOREIGN BATTLEFIELDS IN SYRIA

The accused Armen Dželko (1990) is charged with the criminal offense of Organizing a Terrorist Group under Article 202d and the criminal offense of Terrorism under Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.


  • INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR PARTICIPATION IN FOREIGN BATTLEFIELDS IN SYRIA

Prosecutor from the Section for Terrorism of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against the following person:

- Armen Dželko, also known as Abdullah and Ike, born in 1990 in Sarajevo, who is currently remanded in custody.


The accused is charged to have left to the territory of Syria in early 2013, via the territory of the Republic of Turkey, with the intention of joining the structures of the so-called ISIL, which was declared a terrorist organization by the UN Security Council, and, having arrived at the territory of Syria, he joined these armed formations and participated in attacks and terrorist activities, which consisted of armed actions, attacks on the population, killings, unlawful imprisonments, hostage-taking and other illegal activities.


As a member of the so-called ISIL, the accused was repeatedly wounded and after the defeat and breakdown of this terrorist organization, the accused surrendered to the anti-terrorist coalition forces in late 2019, following the defeat in the city of Baguz, after which he was deported to Bosnia and Herzegovina.


The accused is charged with the commission of the criminal offense of Organizing a Terrorist Group under Article 202d, paragraph 2, all in conjunction with the criminal offense of Terrorism referred to in Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.


The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be proving the accused’s culpability by summonsing eighteen (18) witnesses and expert witnesses and by submitting a large number of material evidence.

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
