CHIEF PROSECUTOR MEETS WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF WAR CRIME VICTIMS’ ASSOCIATION
06.09.2019. 14:19The meeting discussed work on war crimes cases, in particular war crimes cases with elements of sexual violence, and changes to the National War Crimes Strategy, the process of searching for missing persons, regional cooperation, as well as other current issues in the field of prosecution of war crimes cases.
The representatives of the “Woman-War Victim” Association Sarajevo requested that cases of sexual violence be prosecuted exclusively before the Prosecutor’s Office and the Court of BiH, on which judicial and international institutions, as well as the public of Bosnia and Herzegovina, were informed earlier.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH maintains regular contacts and cooperation with associations of victims of war crimes from all over BiH in order to prosecute war crimes cases as efficiently as possible.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
