MORTAL REMAINS OF AT LEAST TWO PERSONS FOUND DURING EXHUMATION AT CAREVO POLJE IN JAJCE MUNICIPALITY
30.07.2019. 14:43In the area of Jajce, at the location of Carevo Polje, the process of exhumation and search for mortal remains of persons missing from the past war is being conducted upon orders of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, respectively.
So far, mortal remains of two persons have been bound, and the exhumation process continues.
The found mortal remains will be transported to the premises of the City Cemetery of Banja Luka, where further forensic processing will be performed and identities of the persons to whom the found mortal remains belong will be determined.
According to the preliminary information, those are most probably missing persons of Serb ethnicity.
The process of exhumation is being supervised and coordinated by an Investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes, who is present at the exhumation site, with the participation of a medical doctor from the RS Institute for Forensic Medicine, an Investigator from the BiH Institute for Missing Persons and police officers of the Ministry of the Interior of the Central Bosnia Canton from Travnik.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
