MEASURE OF CUSTODY PROPOSED AGAINST ONE PERSON SUSPECTED OF SMUGGLING TWO MIGRANTS
12.06.2019. 15:46Having questioned the suspect, the Prosecutor from the Department III in charge of the case put forward a Motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking that the measure of custody be ordered against Stefan Kozak, born in 1993, a citizen of the Republic of Serbia.
This suspect is subject to investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, since he is suspected to have attempted to smuggle two persons from the territory of Kosovo on 10 June 2019, for whom he had previously procured passports of other persons- citizens of the Republic of Serbia. He attempted to smuggle them across the Šamac International Border Crossing into the Republic of Croatia, and he is thereby suspected of the commission of the criminal offence of Smuggling of Persons, as referred to in Article 189, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina in conjunction with Article 26 of the same Code.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
