WORKSHOP ON FINANCIAL INVESTIGATIONS HELD IN PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH
15.05.2019. 16:33During the operation of the expert workshop on financial investigations, which was attended by prosecutors and expert staff of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, experiences were exchanged with UK counterparts who also worked on financial investigations.
At the expert workshop, there was discussion about challenges in financial investigations, experiences in conducting this kind of investigations, case studies, as well as lessons learned and challenges in experiences in BiH and the UK.
The UK counterparts and prosecutors and staff of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH presented case studies as presenters.
The expert workshop is being organised within the Support Project for the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council and the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, which is supported by the UK Embassy to BiH.
On 27 February 2019, Chief Prosecutor of BiH Gordana Tadić issued a mandatory Instruction on conducting financial investigations when conducting investigations in certain cases of corruption, organised crime, financial crime, money laundering and other criminal offences, which defines the area of conducting financial investigations.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
