06.05.2019. 12:54Having questioned the suspect, the Prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption in charge of the case has put forward a Motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking the measure of custody to be ordered against the following suspect:
- Marko Krizmanić, born in 1974 in Linz, Austria, resident of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.
The aforementioned suspect is subject to investigation as he is charged with smuggling of around 27 kilograms of marijuana narcotic drug; therefore, he is suspected to have committed the criminal offence of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, as referred to in Article 195 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH CC).
The drug was discovered and seized at the Gradiška Border Crossing, hidden in a purpose-built hideout in the vehicle driven by the suspect.
Having questioned the suspect, the Prosecutor has put forward a Motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking the measure of custody to be ordered against the aforementioned suspect for the reasons set forth in Article 132, items a) and b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely, due to the risk of flight, since the suspect has dual citizenship, and the danger that, if at large, the suspect might hinder the inquiry, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accessories.
Intensive investigation in this case continues.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
