CUSTODY PROPOSED AGAINST SIX SUSPECTS FROM ‘RETRO’ ACTION
08.03.2019. 12:18The measure of custody will be requested for the reasons set forth in Article 132, items b) and c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely, due to the danger that, if at large, the suspects might hinder the inquiry, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accessories, or that they might commit another criminal offence or complete the criminal offence.
The aforementioned suspects from the case codenamed ‘Retro’ are active customs officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of them being the Head of the Customs Office, and they are suspected of the criminal offences of Organized Crime and Accepting Gifts and Other Forms of Benefit.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
