PERSON ACCUSED OF SMUGGLING OF ILLEGAL MIGRANTS IN CASE CODENAMED ‘CENTER’ ENTERS INTO PLEA AGREEMENT ADMITTING HIS GUILT
05.03.2019. 14:32The accused Usman-Ali Maqsood Ahmed aka Ali, born in 1993 in Pakistan, a citizen of Pakistan, currently in custody, has admitted his guilt in the presence of his attorney, for the commission of the criminal offence of Organizing a Group or Association for the Purpose of Perpetrating the Criminal Offence of Smuggling of Migrants, in conjunction with the criminal offence of Smuggling of Persons referred to in the Criminal Code of BiH.
Pursuant to the Plea Agreement, the pronouncement of the sentence of imprisonment for a term of two (2) years has been proposed against the accused, along with a fine of BAM 7,728 as an accessory punishment. Moreover, it has been proposed that all objects used during the commission of the crime be confiscated from him, including a mobile phone and an accompanying SIM card.
The proposed sanction is in accordance with the role and responsibility of this accused person in the commission of the said criminal offence.
The Plea Agreement has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
