INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY COMMITTED IN FOČA AREA
25.12.2018. 12:51- Saša Ćurčić, born on 8 June 1960 in Foča.
This accused is charged with acting in violation of the provisions of the Geneva Conventions relative to the protection of civilian persons in time of war, as a member of the Army of Republika Srpska, during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the widespread and systematic attack of the army, police and paramilitary formations against Bosniak civilian population on the territory of Foča and its surroundings.
The aforementioned accused is charged with participating with other persons, in the summer of 1992, in the forcible taking away of unlawfully imprisoned women and girls of Bosniak ethnicity from the territory of Foča, who were imprisoned in the High School Centre in Foča.
After they had been forcibly taken away, the victims were brought to an abandoned house in Gornje Polje, where the accused committed rape and sexual abuse against a Bosniak victim.
The accused is charged with the commission of the criminal offence of Crimes against Humanity, as referred to in Article 172 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
