ACTING CHIEF PROSECUTOR OF BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE HOLDS COLLEGIUM OF SPECIAL DEPARTMENT FOR WAR CRIMES
29.11.2018. 12:34Central topics pertained to the results achieved by the Special Department for War Crimes and the results planned to be achieved until the end of the year. Prosecutors have been entrusted with carrying out another analysis of cases that could be transferred for prosecution by the judicial authorities at entity levels and the level of Brčko District of BiH, in accordance with the National War Crimes Strategy and by application of Article 27a of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the course of 2018, several international activities were recorded, such as deportations and extraditions of war crimes suspects and accused persons, who had been deported from Germany, France and Montenegro, as well as arrests of suspects on the basis of wanted notices issued upon the request of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina. All these are very important activities in the fight against the impunity of war crimes.
Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina Gordana Tadić and Heads of the respective Sections within the Special Department for War Crimes have emphasized that, in the period to come, Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be initiator of regional and international cooperation in the prosecution of war crimes cases.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
