SUSPECT OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN ZVORNIK AREA DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY UPON ORDER OF BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE
19.11.2018. 11:42Acting pursuant to an Order issued by a Prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) have located and deprived of liberty the following suspect in the area of Zvornik:
- Dušan Spasojević, born in 1954 in Zvornik
The suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and he is charged with the commission of the war crime against a victim of Bosniak ethnicity, in the area of the village of Jusići, in May of 1992, while he was a member of the Territorial Defence of the Serbian Municipality of Zvornik.
The suspect is charged with the criminal offence of War Crimes against Civilians, as referred to in Article 173 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The suspect will be handed over to the Prosecutor in charge of the case today, who will question the suspect and subsequently make a decision regarding further activities in this case.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
