INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY COMMITTED IN FOČA AREA
05.09.2018. 15:30Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes has issued an Indictment against the following person:
- Slobodan Ćurčić, born in 1970 in Foča, resident of Montenegro.
This accused is charged with acting in violation of the provisions of the international humanitarian law and Geneva Conventions relative to the protection of civilian persons in time of war, during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and as part of the widespread and systematic attack against Bosniak civilian population on the territory of Foča.
This accused is charged with shooting from firearms and killing two Bosniak civilians, in 1992, during the attack on the Hum village in Foča Municipality, while he was a member of the Army of Republika Srpska.
Moreover, this accused person is charged with participating, together with other persons, in the rape and sexual abuse of Bosniak women and girls, as well as with raping one woman personally.
The accused is charged with the commission of the criminal offence of Crimes against Humanity, as referred to in Article 172 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be proving the allegations in the Indictment by summonsing thirteen (13) witnesses and expert witnesses and submitting around fifty (50) pieces of material evidence.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
