Institutional activities and acting in situations involving influx of illegal migrants, prosecution of cases of human trafficking and illegal migrations, as well as interinstitutional and international cooperation in this area, were the central topics of this meeting.

A meeting of the Task Force for Fight against Human Trafficking and Illegal Migrations has been held at the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, chaired by the Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gordana Tadić.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of law enforcement agencies and judicial institutions from the state level, entity levels and the Brčko District level, respectively, as well as the representatives of international organizations engaged on the activities pertaining to the fight against human trafficking and illegal migrations.

The central topics of the meeting concerned the prosecution of the criminal offences of smuggling of persons, as there is an evident increase in the number of cases in this area.

Representatives of law enforcement institutions discussed the activities aimed at protecting the security of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the influx of illegal migrants, as well as the security of migrants and their stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with the law and international conventions.

They also discussed the activities required to protect victims of human trafficking, especially minors who experience multiple endangerment during their illegal exploitation for beggary and other forms of exploitation.

Law enforcement agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina are engaged on a larger number of cases pertaining to smuggling of persons and human trafficking, and in these cases there is intensive regional and international cooperation.

In the past period, the actions codenamed "Taurus" and "Ox" were carried out, them being major international operations in the fight against smuggling of illegal migrants which were realized in several countries and in which the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina have had intensive and significant role.
