WAR CRIMES SUSPECT HASAN RUŽNIĆ (1973) EXTRADITED FROM THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA TO JUDICIARY OF BIH

The suspect is charged with crimes against humanity committed against victims of Serb ethnicity in the 1995 Sana 95 operation as part of activities within case v. Atif Dudaković et al.

The suspect Hasan Ružnić was handed over to BiH Judicial Police at 12 hrs. on 22 August 2018 at the border between BiH and Croatia, after which he was transported to Sarajevo where he will be questioned by the Assigned Prosecutor.

The suspect was arrested on the basis of an international warrant issued at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, in the territory of Croatia on 29 July 2018, after which he was extradited to the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH is conducting an investigation against the suspect, who is charged with committing crimes against humanity against ethnic Serb victims in Bosanski Petrovac on 15 September 1995, while acting in his capacity as member of the Military Police of the 5th Corps of the R BiH Army.

At least 40 ethnic Serb victims, civilians and soldiers who have surrendered, were killed and the suspect is charged with having personally participated in the shooting and individual killings of the survivors.

The suspect is one of a total of 17 suspects in the Atif Dudaković et al. case, and with his extradition all suspected persons are available to the judiciary of BiH.

Following the questioning of the suspect the Prosecutor will decide on further activities in the case.
