INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR SMUGGLING OF PERSONS

- ARMIN OMERAGIĆ, born in 1995 in Sarajevo, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This accused person is charged with enabling the illegal stay of four migrants – citizens of Syria, Algeria and Libya who had no identification documents with them and therefore did not reside legally on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by transporting them across the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the intention of acquiring unlawful material gain.
As alleged in the Indictment, on 20 March 2018 in Miljevina, Foča Municipality, the accused took the migrants and attempted to transport them to Sarajevo, for which service he arranged an amount of money to be paid to him. He was detected and prevented by authorized official persons of the Police Administration of Foča.
This accused person is charged to have committed the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons, as referred to in Article 189, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
