INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR SMUGGLING OF GOODS
12.02.2018. 14:53The accused is charged with having, on 12 October 2017, smuggled 112 kilograms of cut tobacco across the customs line without the permit of the competent authorities and without the excise stamps, the import of which is forbidden. He transferred it across the customs line from the Republic of Serbia into Bosnia and Herzegovina at IBC Šepak in a specially designed hiding place in the vehicle he operated. He was prevented in his intentions during the control and search by customs and police authorities in the border zone of the Plazulje and Gorica settlements in Brčko District, when the tobacco was found and seized.
In this way the accused has evaded customs control and measures and transferred goods across the customs line, the transfer of which requires special permission of the competent authority, and by doing so committed the criminal offense of Smuggling of Goods under Article 214 (2) in conjunction with (1)of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
