INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN ZVORNIK
26.12.2017. 13:51The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against the following person:
- Dalibor Maksimović AKA Dačo, born in 1972 in Vlasenica.
The accused is charged with having acted contrary to the provisions of International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War during the war and armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina while acting in his capacity as a member of the military unit of the Territorial Defense Milići.
The indictment alleges that the accused, who was armed with an automatic rifle, has personally and directly killed 4 Bosniak civilians by firing from a firearm in the "Standard" facility located at Karakaj, an area near Zvornik.
The bodies of the killed Bosniak civilians were found in the mass grave located at Kazanbaša a place near Zvornik in 2003 and subsequently exhumed and identified.
The accused is charged with having committed the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians.
The indictment includes a proposed list of 23 witnesses and one expert witness to be examined, along with about 50 pieces of evidence, which the Prosecution will use to prove the guilt of the accused.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
