ACTING CHIEF PROSECUTOR OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH GORDANA TADIĆ MET WITH IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT
13.12.2017. 14:46Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH - Gordana Tadić, and her associates, Deputy Head of the Special Department for War Crimes - Izet Odobašić and the Head of Section III of the same Department- Stanko Blagić, met with the representatives of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Michael MacQueen and Michael McVicker as well as Mark Shaffer Head of the Homeland Security’s Human Rights Violators and War Crimes Unit.
The BiH Prosecutor’s Office and the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement have a good, continuous long-standing cooperation in detection, identification and prosecution of persons who participated in war crimes, and have succeeded in emigrating to the United States a following the end of the war in BiH.
Over the past decade, more than 10 suspected war criminals have been detected, prosecuted and deported from the United States to BiH in order to be prosecuted by the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, among whom were suspects of all ethnicities and both sexes.
Representatives of the two institutions have a common mission and goal and that is fight against impunity and preventing war crimes suspects from hiding and bringing all suspects to justice.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
