INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR WAR CRIME COMMITTED IN KALINOVIK

The accused Dalibor Krstović (1972) is charged with the perpetration of the war crime of rape and sexual abuse against a victim of Bosniak ethnicity in Kalinovik, in 1992. 
  • INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR WAR CRIME COMMITTED IN KALINOVIK

Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against the following person:

-      Dalibor Krstović, born on 02 May 1972 in Sarajevo, residing in Belgrade, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia.

This accused person is charged with acting in violation of the provisions of the Geneva Conventions relative to the protection of civilian persons in time of war, during the war and armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

He is charged with coming to a school in Kalinovik where mostly women and children of Bosniak ethnicity from Kalinovik, Gacko and other places were imprisoned, during the widespread and systematic attack of the army, police and paramilitary formations against the Bosniak population in the area of Kalinovik, while he was a member of the Army of Republika Srpska, and taking out one female victim of Bosniak ethnicity and threatening her that he would either rape or kill her children who were imprisoned in the same facility if she resisted. He then raped and sexually abused this victim and subsequently made possible for another soldier to rape this victim.  

This accused person is charged with the commission of the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity, as referred to in Article 172 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been conducting investigations in a large number of cases which pertain to the war crimes of rape and sexual abuse of victims in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as those are particularly serious war crimes with grave consequences.

This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
