  • MOTION FOR REMAND IN CUSTODY OF A PERSON SUSPECTED OF INTERNATIONAL TRAFFICKING OF NARCOTIC SUBSTANCES

The BiH Prosecutor’s Office will file a motion with the Court of BiH for remand in custody of Vladimir Anđelić, born in 1982.

The suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and is suspected of acquiring large quantities of morphine patches in the territory of the Republic of Serbia which he then smuggled into BiH and distributed on the illegal drug market in Foča and other places.

During the commission of criminal offenses the suspect abused the medical records of seriously ill patients, who were prescribed morphine therapy, in order to illegally obtain these substances, thus causing damage to the health system.

During the search of the suspect, as well as the vehicles and facilities he used, a large quantity i.e. hundreds of morphine patches, tablets containing illegal substances and other evidence, were found and seized.

Remand in custody is requested for the reasons stipulated in Article 132 (b) and (c) i.e. due to risk that the suspect may interfere with the investigation, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accomplices, and that, while out, he may commit a new criminal offense or complete the initiated as the person in question is a repeat offender with a number of convictions.

*Note on the principle of presumption of innocence

This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
