SUSPECT OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN THE AREA OF POSAVINA DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY AT THE BORDER CROSSING
25.10.2017. 15:36Pursuant to an order issued by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a war crimes suspect has been deprived of liberty at the border crossing. This suspect is under investigation due to the suspicion that he committed war crimes as a former member of the Military Police of the Croatian Defence Council (HVO).
The suspect is currently being transported to Sarajevo, where he will be handed over to the Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in charge of this case, who will question him and subsequently decide on further procedural activities in this case.
This is an investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the war crimes against the victims of Serb ethnicity, which were committed at several locations in the area of Bosanski Brod, in 1992.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
