MORTAL REMAINS OF ONE PERSON EXHUMED IN SREBRENICA AREA
11.09.2017. 14:13The exhumation is being conducted at the local cemetery, where unknown mortal remains have been found at low depth while carrying out the works on the preparation of a grave site, which presumably belong to a victim from the past war.
The mortal remains will be transported to the premises of the Public Utilities Enterprise ‘Commemorative Centre’ in Tuzla, for further forensic analysis and the DNA analysis, and in order to determine the victim’s identity.
The exhumation is being carried out with the participation of the representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist and police officers of the Police Station in Srebrenica, whereas activities in the field are being coordinated by an Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, upon the order of the Prosecutor in charge of the respective case.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with its partner institutions, participates in the processes of exhumation and search for the missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
